Season 11: Ten Episodes and Key Slot in Fall 2017

TVWise has provided more information about Season 11:
• Official pick-up expected within weeks
• More traditional episode order – ten episodes
• Spring/Mid-2017 production start in Vancouver, Canada
• Key slot on FOX’s 2017 Fall schedule

31 Days of Halloween, Day 26: “Via Negativa” – Season 8

Synopsis | Doggett and Skinner try to avert the mysterious murder spree of a drug-induced cult leader who leaves no trace of evidence at the crime scenes.
Trivia | Curiously, Frank Spotnitz was inspired to write “Via Negativa” after a tube of toothpaste that, when opened, would have blood come out; since he was unable to think of any real-world scenario involving that idea, he eventually came up with the episode’s concept of dreams and nightmares. It is one of Robert Patrick’s favorite episodes.
Quotes | Doggett: [to Skinner] “Just ’cause I’m assigned to the X-Files you want me to think like Scully or Mulder would. You got the wrong guy. I need facts, not wild ideas.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 25: “Roadrunners” – Season 8

Synopsis | Scully evades Doggett’s help in pursuing a dangerous cult that worships a slug-like creature.
Trivia | Some cameramen freaked out during the production of “Roadrunners” due to its graphic nature. The parasitic creature was designed to look like a banana slug, and was created via animatronics.
Quotes | Scully: “Look, I, uh… I wanted to apologize. I… I left you out of this case, and that was a mistake on my part. It was almost a fatal mistake.” Doggett: “It was. You screwed up.” Scully: “And I won’t do it again.” Doggett: “I appreciate it.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 24: “Patience” – Season 8

Synopsis | Scully and Doggett investigate several killings involving a terrifying bat-like creature.
Trivia | “Patience” is the first episode of the series to not feature David Duchovny’s name in the opening title sequence; before this, he is absent in only two episodes out of 163. The human-bat hybrid is inspired by the comic book villain, Man-Bat – one of the arch-nemeses of Batman.
Quotes | Doggett: “The guys upstairs were making some noise about this case – about what’s in our field report. Scully: “Yeah. You’ll get used to it. I, uh… I never had a desk in here, Agent Doggett, but I’ll see that you get one.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 23: “Chimera” – Season 7

Synopsis | Mulder investigates a mysterious series of deaths involving ravens, broken mirrors… and a murderous creature.
Trivia | Originally, the episode was going to feature a subterranean monster, and was going to be titled “Subterranean Monster Blues”. While the episode was being produced, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were also busy directing their own episodes – “Hollywood A.D.” and “all things”, respectively. Therefore, “Chimera” was initially supposed to have limited appearances by both lead actors, but eventually Duchovny stepped up as he could do the full episode.
Quotes | Scully: “Mulder, please tell me I can go home.” Mulder: “Oh, hey, Scully. How’s the stakeout?” Scully: “Well, the furnace broke and I can just about see my breath in here.” Mulder: “Ouch! I’m sorry to hear that.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 22: “Theef” – Season 7

Synopsis | Mulder and Scully suspect that hexcraft is the source of a threat against a doctor’s family.
Trivia | Originally, “Theef” was not planned to be produced during the seventh season; another script was scheduled for the first episode after the Christmas break, but that script fell through. Soon afterward, the Vince Gilligan/John Shiban/Frank Spotnitz trio came up with this dark, voodoo-themed tale. It was one of the most challenging episodes for the cast and crew as they did not have much time to prepare.
Quotes | Mulder: “Mulder, why are we here?” Scully: “To be fair, I might have used the words » Mulder, how is this an X-File?” Mulder: “You see that, Scully, you always keep me guessing.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 21: “X-Cops” – Season 7

Synopsis | Mulder and Scully are followed documentary-style by a Cops camera crew as they investigate an unseen entity on the streets of Los Angeles.
Trivia | The episode’s original title is “Bad Boys”. “X-Cops” is one of two episodes of the series to take place in real time. At some point, David Duchovny was a possible choice to direct it; time constraints and plans for him to direct “Hollywood A.D.” made it necessary to select another director. It ranks as the most-watched stand-alone episode of Season 7 with 16.6 million viewers – original US broadcast. It serves as a fictional crossover with the series Cops.
Quotes | Scully: “Look, Mulder, you want to talk about werewolves to me you can knock yourself out. I may not agree with you, but at least I’m not going to hold it against you. But this… Mulder, this could ruin your career.” Mulder: “What career? Scully, I appreciate it. You don’t want me looking foolish. I do. I appreciate that.” Scully: “I don’t want me looking foolish, Mulder.”

31 Days of Halloween, Day 20: “Orison” – Season 7

Synopsis | Reverend Orison hopes to save Donnie Pfaster’s soul by helping him break out of prison, but Pfaster only wants the victim that once escaped him – Scully.
Trivia | “Orison” is the third and last sequel to a monster-of-the-week episode. In the first draft, the episode’s main antagonist was a prisoner with the ability to stop time; it was later decided to redefine the story and reintroduce Donnie Pfaster, a villain from the second season episode “Irresistible”.
Quotes | Scully: “That song – can you hear that?” Mulder: “Barely.”
Scully: “I haven’t heard that song since high school. That’s the second time I’ve heard it in the last hour.” Mulder: “Well, I think if it was a make-out song it’d be ruined forever now, huh?”
