There sould be “something exciting” to annnounce next year: the next installment of The X-Files is tentatively eyed for the 2017-18 season. FOX TV chairmans Dana Walden and Gary Newman made it clear that there is strong interest in the show’s return, during an upfronts conference call for press. Walden said that “hopefully this season we will be able to get it done and that the same time next year we will have something to announce”. “We’ve had conversations with [Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson] that have included discussions of what kind of episodic order makes sense”, Newman elaborated. “I can tell you that Chris and David and Gillian all would like to do more of these, and certainly the network and the studio would love to do more”, he assured.
